We are glad to announce, that the videos from FOSS Aalborg 2008 are available at:

The videos are encoded in h264, and should be streamable from a 2 Mb/s connection.
Please notice that the resolution of the videos is rather high (1920x1080), Depending on your monitors screen resolution you may want to downscale it a bit or go into full screen mode. Unfortunately we had som problems with the recordings of Peter Hansteens Talk. Therefore, for now, only the first half is available.

Go to the tunnel below the train station (the stairs are on the platform) and go to the direction away from the station building. Go through the park and turn right, and the conference centre is on your right hand side. (You can see where to walk on this map.)

Parking is plentiful at the conference centre.

Bryan Østergaard - A linux distribution is born
Open source software and linux distributions in particular are rarely very innovative. In this talk you'll hear about a new, primarily danish, linux distribution that's trying to change that. We'll take a short look at the reasons for starting this project, how the project is managed and finally a deeper look at how we make it easier to control services as well as the bootup and shutdown process.
Bryan Østergaard works as a developer on financial applications and spends the evenings as an active open source developer and a member of the board of SSLUG.

Peter N. M. Hansteen - Effective spam and malware countermeasures
In most networks, spam and malware are constant annoyances. This talk is about studying miscreants' behavior (yes, you will see some actual empirical data) and using free tools to turn it against them. In the process we build a better network and rediscover how to have fun while doing it.
Peter N. M. Hansteen is a consultant, sysadmin and writer, who wrote The Book of PF about his favorite firewall solution.

Troels L. Bentsen - The software development process with open source tools
Through the years of open source development, a number of software projects have developed tools for aiding and improving the development process of their software. Much of this software, can be applied in general, to software development processes, to improve quality and productivity. This talk will look at some of the most widely used tools, from SCM systems (Subversion, Git, etc.), issue tracking (Redmine, Trac), automated testing and other tools that aid the development process.
Troels is a student/consultant with at keen interest in software development processes based on Open Source tools.

Martin von Haller Grønbæk - Legal aspects of reverse engineering
When are you allowed to reverse engineer a protocol, a piece of software or hardware, and how may you use the obtained knowledge? Martin tries to clarify the aspects of reverse engineering from a legal point of view.
Martin is a lawyer at the law firm Bender von Haller Dragsted, and has specialized in IT and open source.

Knut Yrvin - Cross platform development
If you want to develop applications for multiple platforms, resources can be spared by using QT. QT is a cross-platform application development framework and can be used for both development of GUI programs and non-GUI programs such as console tools and servers.
Knut is community manager at Trolltech.

Ole Tange - Dealing with free software licenses in a software developing company
When developing software free software offers you some advantages. However, if you want to mix software under different licenses, you will have to be careful: Some licenses are not compatible and some licenses requires modifications to be distributed under the same license. We will have a look at different licenses and see what they offer.

Poul-Henning Kamp - Efficient programming for modern computers
In the last decade, fundamental properties of computers, has changes drastically, however the mindset of programmers in general has not. People are still programming computer based on assumptions that no longer hold for modern computers.
Poul-Henning is danish core developer of the FreeBSD project.

Rasmus Lerdorf - Open source collaboration
PHP is among the most widely used scripting languages for dynamic web pages. It has spawned numerous companies around the world, that base their entire business on PHP for web hosting. Rasmus will talk about the collaboration that has let to this incredible success.
Rasmus is infrastructure architect at Yahoo, and the creator of the PHP programming language.
